The story of Lister Petter started with two separate companies designing and manufacturing two completely different products. One of the companies was in the agricultural industry while the other was in ironmongery, but they both had their customers in the forefront of their mind and were creating customer centric products which satisfied their customers’ needs. Both companies created the first internal combustion engines in 1902 where Petter developed an oil engine for automotives and Lister developed a petrol engine for agricultural uses. Both these companies were then acquired by Hawker Siddeley after he saw the success both companies had not only in innovation but also in branching out into different sectors.

After acquiring Petter in 1957 and Lister in 1965, Siddeley formed the Lister Petter company in 1986 which continued producing high-quality engines for industrial uses, and has even since been a name that is synonymous with diesel and electric power. Lister Petters desire to innovate did not decrease over time, in fact they kept increasing innovation by drawing inspiration from customer feedback and using it to improve their engines as the sole goal of the company is to create world leading products. Additionally, they have an extensive testing process for each engine before it leaves the factory to ensure the engine is of high quality and no defects maintaining the satisfaction and safety of their customers.

Lister Petter has a wide range of products including diesel engines and associated power generation equipment, their diesel engines are fit for industrial, agricultural ,and marine engines, meaning they can be used in pumps, generators, compressors, crop sprayers, fishing vessels, and more! Another important feature they have are air-cooled and water-cooled engines which can help keep the engines performing at optimal levels no matter what the environment is like.

Currently, Lister Petter is working on enhancing and advancing their hybrid technologies to cope with the changes in customer needs and wants while maintaining their commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. They are also working on providing the best safety practices for their employees while maintaining local communities and ethical responsibilities.
